This is SVERI

SVERI – The Swedish Committee of Rehabilitation International is the Swedish member organisation of RI – Rehabilitation International – which is a global network of people with disabilities, service providers and government agencies.

SVERI is promoting rehabilitation and research in the area of disability and the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.

SVERI is constituted of member organisations belonging to different parts of society:

  • Disability organisations
  • Service providers
  • Public agencies
  • Research institutes

The member organisations of SVERI have different opinions on rehabilitation. Employees at a governmental agency have, due to their work, certain views while service providers may have a different perspective. Persons with their own experience of rehabilitation in disability organisations have other experiences, which may differ from the one of researchers. Within SVERI all these different types of knowledge and experiences get the opportunity to meet and inspire each other.

SVERI provides a forum for dialogue on rehabilitation and disability, across the different sectors of society. This enables organisations to view their performance from new perspectives.Activities:

  • SVERI organises cross-sectoral meetings and seminars about rehabilitation and disability.
  • SVERI handles a network of organisations active in rehabilitation.
  • SVERI participates in RI activities e.g. General Assemblies, congresses and commission meetings.
  • SVERI participates in the activities of RI Europe.
  • SVERI participates in the RI cooperation in the Nordic countries.
  • SVERI disseminates information about RIs global and regional activities.
  • SVERI participates nationally in a Swedish project about implementation of the UN Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities together with other organisations in Sweden within the Disability Movement.
